Instructions for iCalmDog 1.0

Safety tip: As a precaution, we suggest battery charging only takes place when a person is around. Due to concern about aging Lithium batteries, we recommend that you don’t leave your unit charging with only your dog present.

Using iCalmDog for the first time:

For customers post 8/18/15, please see “Inserting Flash Drives” below. Flash Drives have replaced Sound Cards and you won’t have any tape protecting a Sound Card from falling out.
1. Turn switch on back side of speaker from off to on.After the four hours of Through a Dog’s Ear calming music is played, it will automatically repeat back to the beginning.

2. Adjust volume on right side of speaker. DO NOT PLAY AT MAXIMUM VOLUME. It is not good for your dog or the longevity of the speaker. Play at a gentle volume. If you are in a large room and need more sound, use the headphone jack to plug into an external speaker. (See “Additional Features” below.) volume

Charging iCalmDog:

1. Use the included USB cable to charge. (Charge life is dependent on volume.)

Insert the smaller connector of the USB cable into the left side of the iCalm Dog.

2. Then insert the larger connector into a standard USB port on your computer. usb
You have the option of charging and playing simultaneously.

A “P” on the display signals that the battery needs to be charged.

A red light will indicate the device is receiving power.

The red charge light will not turn to green when it is fully charged.

A full charge takes about four hours. To support a long battery life, it is best to let iCalmDog fully deplete it’s charge before charging.  When it is depleted, charge for the full 4 hours.

You can also use a standard outlet to charge iCalmDog:

Removing and inserting interchangeable Sound Cards:

The Sound Card is located on the back of your iCalmDog Player just below the label “TF Card USB Host” card1
TO REMOVE A CARD:
1. Push in gently and release.

2. The card should now easily be removed.

Note: Be sure to put your card in a safe place.

TO INSERT A CARD:
1. Place sound card (lettered side up) into “TF Card” drive & push in gently until it clicks.Your new Sound Card is ready to be played.

Inserting Flash Drives:

Additional features:

  • Built-in FM radio: Press M (second button on left) to play.
  • Portable flash drive: Insert in rear of iCalmDog and enjoy any music on a flash drive. (Please note: The micro card is the default, so that will need to be ejected for the flash drive to play. It is very tiny, so be careful to store it safely so you don’t lose the calming canine music.)
  • External speaker: Use your iCalmDog as an external speaker for your laptop, tablet, or mobile phone!Options: If you are at home, and don’t need iCalmDog to be portable, you can plug it into your speakers for stereo sound.plug-in-speaker

Turn your iCalmDog into an external speaker in 5 easy steps:

Please note: The following instructions apply to purchasers of the iCalmDog between 6/15/13-1/21/14

  2. Press the “M” button (second from left) until you see the words LINE aux.
  3. Plug the iCalmDog power cord into the left side port of the iCalmDog (AUX/DC)
  4. Plug the headphone jack of the iCalmDog cord into headphone input of your mobile device.
  5. Play your music/video file; adjust sound on your mobile device and the iCalmDog.Turn on the iCalmDog (switch on the back).

Please note: For purchasers of iCalmDog after 1/21/14, the audio cable is optional and available in accessories.

  1. Turn on the iCalmDog (switch on the back).
  2. Press the “M” button (second from left) until you see the words LINE aux.
  3. Plug the iCalmDog audio cable into the left side port of the iCalmDog.
  4. Plug the headphone jack of the iCalmDog audio cable into headphone input of your mobile device
  5. Play your music/video file; adjust sound on your mobile device and the iCalmDog.
